A Restorative Justice Framework for Young Inmates

In Pakistan's correctional facilities, juvenile inmates frequently face severe isolation, disruption of education, and heightened psychological distress. Without structured intervention, released youth face immense societal stigma and economic hardship, creating a tragic cycle back into crime.

Shuaa Welfare Foundation, in formal coordination with the administration of Central Jail Gujranwala, launched the "Custody to Community" initiative. Our program addresses the systemic gaps within juvenile detention wards by providing holistic reform interventions before and after release.

Vocational Trade Mastery

Practical certification in computer fundamentals, typing, electronics, and tailoring, ensuring boys have income-generating skills upon release.

Psychosocial Counseling

Certified psychologists conduct individual mental health checkups, trauma-recovery sessions, anger management, and moral guidance.

Pro Bono Legal Defense

Assisting minor detainees without legal representation, securing bail for eligible first-time petty offenders, and expediting court hearings.

Dignity & Welfare Packages

Distributing seasonal clothes, special Eid celebration packages, hygiene kits, sports goods, and reading library books inside the prison.

Institutional Collaboration

The program operates in direct coordination with the Superintendent and welfare wing of Central Jail Gujranwala. Regular review meetings evaluate curriculum efficacy, inmate progress, and post-release apprentice tracking.
