Strategic Meeting with Central Jail Administration for Rehabilitation Programs

As part of its continued commitment to social rehabilitation and community welfare, Shuaa Welfare Foundation previously held a constructive meeting with the administration of Central Jail Gujranwala to explore structured initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable inmates, particularly juveniles and women prisoners.

The meeting was led by CEO Ghulam Qadir Lodhi, who met with Umar Rafique, Social Welfare Head at Central Jail Gujranwala, along with the Superintendent of Central Jail Gujranwala. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss collaborative plans for introducing regular rehabilitation and capacity-building programs inside the jail.

During the discussion, the participants emphasized the importance of transforming incarceration into an opportunity for personal reform, skill development, and emotional support. The meeting focused on developing a framework for monthly or fortnightly engagement sessions where volunteers, trainers, and welfare professionals could interact with inmates to guide them toward positive change.

Several key areas were highlighted for future programs, including:

  • Capacity-building workshops to help inmates develop practical life skills.

  • Motivational and counseling sessions aimed at improving mental resilience and personal discipline.

  • Educational and awareness programs that encourage inmates to pursue learning and constructive activities.

  • Support initiatives for women prisoners, focusing on emotional well-being, dignity, and social reintegration.

CEO Ghulam Qadir Lodhi stressed that rehabilitation must go beyond punishment and focus on helping individuals rediscover purpose and confidence. He noted that many inmates, particularly juveniles, require guidance, mentorship, and opportunities that can help them reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.

The jail administration appreciated the initiative and welcomed the idea of structured engagement programs that could positively influence the behavior and outlook of inmates. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding to develop a coordinated plan for regular welfare visits and rehabilitation activities.

This initiative reflects Shuaa Welfare Foundation’s broader vision of supporting rehabilitation, dignity, and social reform, ensuring that individuals leaving correctional facilities are better equipped to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society.
